Let me take a moment to introduce myself and give you an overview of what to expect as you begin counseling.
My name is Rhonda M. Līvers and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor – MHSP (License #3144, TN). I understand that life and relationships can be demanding. I offer over 20 years of experience helping clients identify what is creating obstacles in their lives, develop insights and skills for overcoming these challenges, and then supporting and guiding them as they work toward their goals. I am strengths and solution-focused in my approach to counseling and seek to help you capitalize on the problems in your life for developing lasting strength, character, and confidence.
I work with my clients on various issues including, but not limited to: anxiety, depression, panic disorder, relationship and family issues, narcissistic relationship abuse, work-related issues, trauma, self-esteem, grief/loss, PTSD, OCD, spiritual direction, women’s issues, pre-marital and marital counseling, phase of life issues, and substance abuse. I see individuals, couples, families, and children ages 5-19 in my practice.
My approach to therapy is holistic, taking into consideration the body, soul, and spirit. When these three areas are balanced and working together, a sense of overall well-being can be achieved. I am certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR).
I earned my undergraduate degree from Governors State University in Illinois in 1990.
I obtained my first master’s degree in Christian Counseling Psychology in Belmont, North Carolina in 1995, and in 2009 graduated with my most recent master’s degree from Trevecca Nazarene University, Nashville, Tennessee.
Certified Clinical Trauma Professional
I am a member of the following professional organizations:
Counseling is a time set aside just for you to begin to explore issues that are creating obstacles in your life. These barriers could be problematic thoughts and emotions, past trauma that continues to affect your quality of life today, self-defeating behaviors, perhaps relational challenges; problems that are creating some degree of distress for you.
The counseling relationship is a collaboration where you and I will work together in a safe and supportive environment and begin to explore the challenges that are interfering with your overall sense of well-being. Once a clear understanding of the issues has been established, a personalized treatment plan will be created to help you achieve your identified goals. I will help you work toward developing necessary skills for overcoming these issues with the intention of creating a more enjoyable and fulfilling life, one where your values and behavior align. I often give clients homework so that they are integrating what is being learned in the counseling session into their lives on a daily basis.
